Font-Bot.

Helvetica Font-Bot

While I was stumbling on StumbleUpon, I came across this site that had a series of Font-Bots. I thought they were pretty neat, especially after watching the Helvetica documentary (I suggest everyone to watch it).

What's even cooler is that you can buy Font-Bot posters, T-shirts, and skins for your laptop or iPhone!

Get a Design Job!

I found this handy manual on AIGA's website. Written by RitaSue Siegel, a design consultant and president of RitaSueSiegelResources, the handbook offers advice to new and upcoming designers looking to break into the design industry. I haven't been able to take a look at the entire handbook, but their are many interesting parts. There is a self-evaluation test, detailed descriptions of different designer roles, how to handle the job hunting process, how to create a good resume and portfolio, and how to nail the interview. This comes at a perfect time for me since I will be graduating in May!

"Typeface" the documentary.

AIGA's (the American Institute of Graphic Artists) Upstate New York chapter is having a film screening and mixer for the Kartemquin Films documentary, Typeface, by Justine Nagan.

The screening will take place at the Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m. The price is free for AIGA members and $2 for student non-members!

Typeface brings together modern and traditional techniques used in print, mixing together historical and contemporary contexts. Visit the website for more information about the film!
